The first Ranma 1/2 game based on Rumiko Takahashi’s popular manga. You play Ranma, a boy who after falling in a magical hot spring, changes into a girl if he gets wet. The only way to change back is to come into contact with hot water. The large cast of supporting characters includes many shape changing people, including a panda, cat and goose! The game is a scrolling beat ‘em up with poor graphics and very basic gameplay. The thing which saves it is the wealth of good to excellent anime intros between stages. But you’ll only benefit if you’re already a Ranma fan.

GRAPHICS: Badly drawn sprites and average backdrops. Intro pics vary from good to ‘a bit dodgy’, as though they’ve copied them from the manga, but can’t really colour them in well.

SOUND: The Ranma theme tune is probably the best thing on offer here.
